Sony Xperia Z1 Review – Best Camera phone from Sony

Last month, Sony updated its Xperia smartphone line up with a new smartphone which was an updated version of its flagship Xperia Z. Sony didn’t use any new alphabet this time instead they just added ‘1’ in the name. The all new Sony Xperia Z1 is out now in the market but you need to go through this review before making your purchase.

Sony Xperia Z1 Review

Sony has again made it dust proof and water resistant up to 1meter for 30 minutes so it’s fantastic for underwater photography.

Design

Sony is using the same design as of Xperia Z but Xperia Z1 is provided with an aluminum frame which provides better stability and strength. The back part is still made of glass and the front has the same 5 inch full HD display.

In size, Xperia Z1 is slightly bigger than Z. Overall you’re going to find the device same in design but the aluminum frame is still giving it a unique look. Due to the aluminium frame, the Xperia Z1 is alot tougher than the previous Xperia Z.

Display

The display measures 5 inch and supports full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The pixel density is 441 ppi which reflects how better the display is. It also uses Sony’s latest Triluminos display technology which was announced with Xperia Z Ultra which promises to bring better color saturation.

Sony Xperia Z1 Specs

In reality, the display of Xperia Z1 is still not as good as Galaxy S4, HTC One and other competitors. You still need to compromise lots of time in this section as the viewing angles are not great.

Display supports multi touch (up to 10 fingers) which is a good feature to have and it also got the X-reality engine instead of Bravia mobile engine.

Processor

Sony Xperia Z1 is among the fastest Android smartphone right now due to having Snapdragon 800 chipset of Qualcomm. The quad core processor inside is clocked at 2.2GHz and the dedicated graphics processor is of Adreno 330.

The RAM inside is 2GB while the internal storage is 16GB. Users can also expand the storage with microSD card of maximum 64GB size. Overall, processing speed and graphics performance is best.

It runs the Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS which is among the best Android versions but Sony will soon update it with newly released Android 4.4 KitKat.

Camera

This is where Sony has worked a lot in this device. It got Sony’s G lens at rear and the rear camera has got 20.7MP lens with image stabilization and much faster processing. It is probably the best camera phone till now.

It also got 2MP front facing camera and the camera software has also been improved. You’re going to find all the camera features which smartphones have these days.

Sony Xperia Z1 Availability

Data

It supports a wide variety of LTE bands i.e. it supports 4G and previous generation cellular network. It got dual band Wi-Fi with hotpost, DLNA and Direct features. It also got Bluetooth (v4.0) and NFC for additional wireless data connectivity.

Sony has also provided microUSB port for data connectivity and the same is used as charging dock. TV-out port is also there. It also got GPS antenna inside to track your geographical position anytime.

Wrap up

According to design point of view, Xperia Z1 still stands uniquely and now it’s tougher than Xperia Z too. The camera is fantastic as expected but Xperia Z1′s screen display does not match it’s competitors. If you’re after a nice sleek phone, fantastic photography and water resistant phone, then look no where else but the Sony Xperia Z1.
