Google LG Nexus 5 Review – Fastest, Efficient but not impressive design

LG’s newly launched LG G2 smartphone is doing great for them as per their plan. LG G2 is among the most successful smartphone for them till now but another smartphone manufactured by them is going to get even more users. Yes, you’re thinking right. I’m talking about LG Nexus 5.

In fact, I should call it Google Nexus 5 but technically or officially its ‘LG Nexus 5’ as its manufactured by LG and got in latest version of Android from Google.

Google announces a newer version of Android operating system with a newer Nexus device. Last year, Jelly Bean was announced with LG Nexus 4 which is still among the best Android smartphones. This time, the Android version announced with Nexus 5 is not completely new but still a better and improved one.

LG Nexus 5 Review

If you’re planning to buy an Android smartphone or wishing to replace your older one then Nexus 5 can be a good choice. I’ll tell you here, why in this article on Google LG Nexus 5 review.

Google LG Nexus 5 review

Design

The front part of Nexus 5 looks exactly like LG G2 or somewhat like Nexus 4 but the rear part has got a completely fresh design. The rear design is simple but doesn’t look attractive to me. You’re going to find Nexus logo vertically with an 8MP shooter and an LED flash on top.

LG branding is also there at rear while the front side has only the front facing camera and a sensor for backlight, nothing else. Volume rockers are at left and power button is at right side.

Display

The display is truly amazing. You’re going to feel like you’ve purchased a high end Android smartphone like Galaxy S4 or HTC One. The 4.95 inch sized display is added on True HD IPS+ panel which is having full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels.

The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it supports multi touch feature too. The Nexus 5’s display is among the best smartphone display and you’re not going to find anything wrong here.

Performance

Nexus 5 is designed to perform at every occasion. You’re never going to complain in terms of performance as it got quad core processor inside which is capable of managing any app or game easily.

Snapdragon 800 chipset is inside the Nexus 5 and the processor is clocked at 2.3GHz. 2GB of RAM is provided to the processor and Adreno 330 GPU while for users there is either 16 or 32GB of storage. You’re not going to find expandable storage option.

It runs latest version of Android i.e. KitKat 4.4. This version is the most stable and improved Android till now and off course the fastest and smoothest one.

Camera

Nexus 5 still holds an 8MP camera at rear but it got improved optical image stabilization. It’s not the best smartphone camera right now but still better than what users had in Nexus 4. You’re going to find touch focus, face detection, photo sphere and geo tagging like features.

Google LG Nexus 5

In short, it’s a simple camera of smartphone level and Google didn’t moved into showing a camera with larger mega pixel numbers like other brands like Sony and Nokia. There is also 1.3MP in front for video calling.

Data

Nexus 4 wasn’t having LTE support which was biggest disadvantage but this time, Nexus 5 is having support for LTE cellular network. So you’re going to find LTE level of data speed.

It also have dual band Wi-Fi with hotspot feature along with NFC, Bluetooth (v4.0) and microUSB port. It doesn’t have any TV or HDMI port but it do have wireless charging feature.

Wrap up

With a battery life of approx 15 hours over 3G network, Nexus 5 is still the best smartphone to buy particularly if you’re a big fan of Android OS. It’s also among the fastest smartphones on earth. Another great feature about Nexus 5 is its price which as usual just half of the price than its main competitors.
