Nokia Lumia 525 Review – Best Budget & Cheapest Windows Smartphone

You may believe it or not but Nokia Lumia 520 is the most sold Windows smartphone till now and now Nokia has silently updated it with a newer version named Lumia 525. Nokia has updated all of its Windows Phone with latest specs and latest version of Windows Phone OS and now it was time for the Lumia 520 to get this update.

The phone is looking just like previous one but still it got some impressive upgrades which are really worth for the phone. Let see what all are those new features in Lumia 525.

Just like Lumia 520, Lumia 525 is going to be the budget priced and cheapest Windows smartphone now but is it worth or not? Let’s know that in the Lumia 525 review down below.

There is nothing new in the design section. Lumia 525 still looks exactly same like Lumia 520. In fact all elements like volume rockers, power and camera button, rear camera, speaker and front look are all same but Nokia has slightly made the outer colors to little more vibrant.

In the dimensions and weight section, Lumia 525 is having exactly the same figure as Lumia 520. So there is nothing changed in the design.

Same 4 inch display is there with Lumia 525 which is having resolution of 480×800 pixels and the same pixel density of 233 ppi. The display supports multi touch feature and it’s added on IPS LCD panel. Again, there is no change in display but you’re definitely going to find difference in the software.

Nokia hasn’t added PureMotion+ technology to Lumia 525 and it still misses that feature. Nokia neither added the ClearBlack technology to it which is another setback but overall display looks good in sunlight and at different viewing angles, just like Lumia 520.

There is again no change the CPU of Lumia 525, its still having the same CPU as of Lumia 520. Dual core processor clocked at 1GHz is inside along with Adreno 305 GPU and accelerometer and proximity sensors.

Nokia has updated the internal RAM storage from 512MB to 1GB which will definitely improve the overall performance and multi tasking speed of the device. Now you’ll be able to play games which demand 1GB of RAM. During my testing, I was able to find difference in performance of Lumia 525 and Lumia 520 due to extra RAM storage. Users can also expand the storage to 64GB via microSD card.

Lumia 525 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 Black version which is one of the recent version of WP software. The app market is updated but it still misses out lots of popular and quality apps so scenario for OS remains the same.

The rear camera can now record videos of full HD quality with the same 5MP sensor at the rear. There is no camera in front still and LED flash with rear camera. Quality of pictures was good as I was expecting from a 5MP shooter.

Lumia 525 supports 3G along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB port for faster data connectivity. In short, it got all common data connectivity features but Android phones with the same price tag are coming with NFC.

Wrap up

Lumia 525 is available in Black, White, Red and Yellow color options and it’s going to provide battery life of over 10 hours on 3G network. So, Lumia 525 got improved performance, camera quality and battery life. If Nokia keeps its price tag same as of Lumia 520 then it’s worth the price but anything above the price tag of Lumia 520 may create problem for sales part of Lumia 525.
