Samsung Galaxy Core Advance Review – Mid Range Budget Smartphone, Worth?

Samsung has been launching many new smartphones running on the latest Android Jelly Bean version of operating system. Although Samsung isn’t offering the pure version of Android but still the OS version of Samsung smartphones are better than of any other brand.

Today I’m here with a review of Samsung Galaxy Core Advance which is about to be released in the first quarter of New Year, 2014. Few of the devices have been already there in the market for testing purpose and hopefully I also found one for this review.

Samsung Galaxy Core Advance Review

I’m starting with the Galaxy Core Advance review so that you can know whether this mid range budget smartphone from Samsung is worth or not. If you go along the specifications then this device will definitely attract you.

Design

Samsung has a bad habit of following the same design in most of its Galaxy smartphones. It’s very hard to find differences among two Galaxy smartphones. But Galaxy Core Advance has got a unique design at least.

The device I got for review was in grey color and it looks really awesome in this color. Although the overall design of Galaxy Core Advance was identical to the Galaxy S4 but still there were some noticeable differences.

The front got a 4.7inch display along with a front camera and sensors on the top. There are three physical buttons down the display rather than touch sensitive buttons while the rear part got a camera, LED flash and loudspeaker.

Display

The display used in the Galaxy Core Advance is the WVGA display of size 4.7 inch which is offering resolution of 480×800 pixels. The pixel density is said to be 199 ppi and the display also supports multi touch.

The viewing angles were good on the device and I didn’t found anything wrong on the display quality. In fact the quality is good if we compare to the other devices in the similar price range.

Performance

Galaxy Core Advance has got Dual core processor inside which is clocked at 1.2GHz and it is provided with 1GB of RAM along with 8GB of internal storage. Users can expand the storage up to 64GB using microSD card but the combination of 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage is really helpful for the smartphone to put a good show.

I installed HD games and games which consumes more CPU resources. All the games were playing without any lag and this clearly shows that the CPU inside is better.

It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but Samsung has put over its own skin to provide a unique look. The overall software is good and it’s just the same which is available on all newly launched Galaxy smartphones.

Camera

Galaxy Core Advance holds 5MP rear camera along with LED flash. The sensor at the back is auto focus and also got touch focus feature while there is also a front VGA camera for video calling. The 5MP picture quality is normal as you can expect and the camera app was also starting within few micro seconds.

Data

Galaxy Core Advance supports 3G cellular data connectivity and it works well while connected to internet via 3G or Wi-Fi. It also got Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC for wireless data connectivity. Having NFC feature is really good as you can transfer data with one touch. The device also got microUSB port for faster data transfer via USB cable.

The Galaxy Core Advance got accelerometer and proximity sensors and it also got GPS to let you know your current location.

Wrap up

With a battery of 2000mAh rating inside, Galaxy Core Advance offers good battery life and it can easily make out 75% of the day on general smartphone usage. According to me the battery life needs to be improved.

With the price tag of Galaxy Core Advance, it can’t be said a poor stopper as it got impressive design and also very well performing CPU. In its price range it’s definitely a better choice but Samsung should do something in the software to improve the battery life and extend it to at least 1 day.
