Samsung Galaxy Beam2 Review – A Mid Range Projector Phone

Samsung has been doing well because it’s trying new things in smartphone section and also making them affordable so that a common man can afford them. The recently launched smartphone from Samsung is super awesome and got a particular feature due to which specific users around the world are targeted.

The phone name is Samsung Galaxy Beam2 and it got an in built projector. Yes, a projector is in built there using which users can start presentation on any hard vertical surface in front of them. It got a dedicated application too using which users can easily manage the things over there.

I’m sharing Samsung Galaxy Beam2 review here so that you can know what this smartphone all about is and whether it’s worth to buy or not. The phone is a mid range and Samsung is going to keep its price affordable.

If you wish to know about the design of the phone then there is nothing new in the front. It looks like any other Samsung phone from front and all sensors, front camera, Samsung branding, home button (physical) and two touch sensitive buttons are lying there on the same place as of any other Samsung phone.

While the rear part has got a new thing, it features a projector on the top due to that there is a slight round in the upper rear side. Below that, there is a camera sensor along with LED flash and Samsung branding. Loudspeaker is also there in rear. Left side has got volume rocker keys while right one got power button and the camera shutter.

It features 4.66 inch of TFT Capacitive touch screen which supports resolution of 480×800 pixels. The pixel density is around 200 and it also supports multi touch feature. Display looks good (but not perfect) from front and different viewing angles but don’t compare it with high end device’s display as it’s a midrange phone. But it’s totally worth in this price range.

It runs on quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz which is supported by 1GB of RAM inside and certain amount of internal storage (unknown). Storage can be expanded to 64GB maximum using microSD card. So the storage and processor part is strong enough to allow users do multitasking and switching between apps faster. 1GB of RAM will allow users to play certain high quality Android games.

The Android version inside is older (Jelly Bean 4.2.2) and I’m not sure that it will get KitKat update in near future. The software looks like any other Samsung phone due to the similar version of TouchWiz skin on top. The software was working fine with every app and there was no single performance lag.

GPS, FM Radio and HTML5 browser are there and the phone is available in Gray Silver color. Accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors are also there inside. It supports 3G cellular network standard (no LTE) along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (4.0) and microUSB port for data connectivity.

Camera & Projection

There is a built in pico projector which supports WVGA resolution. The projector is set at the top bar of the phone so that users can easily access to it and can easily project any video or presentation in front. It also supports background color corrections so that users can adjust the presentation according to the background color in front. There are also some handy applications to manage this projector.

The rear camera supports 5MP sensor along with LED lash and supports features like Face and smile detection, touch focus and geo-tagging. There is a VGA camera in front too for taking selfies or doing video chatting.

Wrap up

It supports 2600mAh battery which dies easily while using projector but using this phone, presentation of maximum 3 hours can be delivered confidently. While using it like a phone, it can barely last for a day on single charge. So battery life is not as best as it should have been.

This phone targets users who have to give a lot of presentations on the go. Also it’s a mid range phone so that users can afford keeping it in their pocket and use at the time of presentation. It got all other smartphone like feature which is an additional feature included.
